ProsDurable, scratchy not comfortable, recommended with caution
I've purchased a number of Bean's oxford shirts over the years. These are as well-built and as durable as they come. However, Bean has changed the fabric composition from their previous easy-care oxfords, and the new easy-care treatment results in a rough, scratchy feeling against the skin. I send the shirts to the laundry for cleaning and get them with medium starch. Maybe I'll try to wash them without starch.
I recommend these shirts, but with hesitation because of the scratchy texture. I plan on upgrading to Bean's pinpoint oxford with my next dress shirt purchase.
And kudos to Bean for sourcing these shirts somewhere other than China.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, best shirt value
I have been wearing these shirts for 7 years, they wear like iron and still look good. Even the collar holds up and I wear a tie 4 out of 5 days with the top button buttoned! Comfortable, always in style and classic colors. Best value for the dollar!
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, wrinkle free, breathable
I purchased 9 of these shirts about 6 months ago; all the checks, stripes and solids in 3 colors. They are all worn and rotated so that none have been worn any more than the others; all have been worn at least 6 times. These oxfords are the best built dress shirts I have owned the past 25 years. They breathe very well, and they do not wrinkle out of the dryer on medium/permanent press heat. I have not ironed any of them even one time. The collars are always crisp and perfect...always. These shirts have outperformed every department store shirt I have ever wasted money on. By far, these shirts are going to last at least 5-6 years from what I have experienced. I just can't see them wearing out. I would definitely recommend them to anyone who wants to look sharp paired with dress chinos.
