This is the 3rd one we have purchased. My husband and I each have one. This one was for our daughter and son-in-law. Ours are well travelled (many US states, Germany, Belize, and India). Still have a lot of travel let in them. Size is great for airplane travel.
I purchased this item about a month ago and used it for the first time last week. I LOVE this bag. Everything I needed for four days fit in neatly and left me plenty of room for extras. The front zip portion was great for holding those items that need to go thru airport security machines. I love the look and the ease of movement. Thanks for a great product.
After researching for a few weeks which company to trust for luggage to get a gift for my husband who was starting a consulting job, everyone directed me to L L Bean. We ended up getting matching bags. Over 2 years, mine lasted, as I traveled infrequently.
My husband's bag, however, fell apart. The canvas actually ripped at the corner where many have found it difficult to zip. The handle sticks, and one wheel rest broke off in transit.
All in all, a bag that we thought would last years crumbled in less that two. He switched to using my bag and in less than six months the corner already shows signs of tearing.
If you're an infrequent traveler, this may work for you. If you travel for business, beware!
Despite a problem getting the handle to fully retract the Sportsman's Carry-On bag is remarkably efficiently designed. I have used it for business trips and found it easy to use and store in the over-head bins. LLBean quickly replaced my defective-handle bag with a brand new one. For short trips with a bag that is cleverly designed and that LL Bean stands behind, I recommend the Sportsman's.
