In recent years, I have bought a number of cheaper blankets from various stores, but they have been less than satisfactory and did not wear well. This time I decided to invest in a higher quality, wool blanket that would keep us warm, stay in place, and look good.
I was not disappointed with my purchase--the blanket looks and feels great. The colors are rich and beautiful (I ordered Mineral Blue), and it's a nice weight. The king size was perfect for our platform bed, with adequate overhang but not falling below the comforter.
After sleeping a few months under a comforter last winter, I am tickled pink to be back under a wool blanket. Bean's washable plaid is the perfect weight - warm but not heavy. The size is quite generous, the quality is top-notch, the colors are beautiful (I have the sage and gold), AND it's washable!
I just received my Washable Wool Plaid Blanket this week and it is lovely. Don't let the price put you off buying this blanket. I truly feel this is a piece that will stand the test of time and therefore be worth every penny. As other reviewers have said, it is soft, feels light on the bed and the colors are beautiful. I ordered straw and it is even prettier than what you see online. I have a deep pocket queen size mattress and noted another reviewer suggested sizing up. I did order a king size and it's fine, but I also think I would have been OK with a queen. The king gives full coverage down the sides of the bed ... much like a bed spread. This blanket will be the perfect companion to the collection of LL Bean flannel sheets that I have ... bring on the Maritime winter weather ... I'm ready!
Never have paid as much for a blanket as this one, but I have no regrets. I love the colors, already put it in the washer and dryer..it came out beauitful, infact it softened the blanket and got rid of the odor it had when it arrived. The main reason for the purchase was to find a warm blanket, and it is! Would recommend a sheet then the blanket, as it's still wool. I have been 100% happy with this purchase!
