I thought I would splurge and get the pima cotton turtleneck. I have three of the pima t-shirts (in size small) and love them. I was pretty disappointed with this turtleneck because I could barely pull it down over my regular-sized head. After I finally got my head through it, the neck part was squeezing my neck tightly. I know I wouldn't be able to get through the day with it grabbing me. The whole garment was too tight all over. I got a small, which is was I always get. I had no room to spare, and should it shrink with washing, it would be completely unwearable.

I couldn't believe that it said 100% cotton. I felt like wearing a spandex mixed sweater. It clings on my skin and makes me uncomfortable. I have more than twenty Pima cotton T's from L.L.Beans, and love them all. This is going to be my last order, if they don't bring back original Pima cotton materials.
For many years now I have enjoyed Beans' Pima Cotton Turtlenecks, particularly the petite sizes. They wash n wear as close to cashmere as can be without the expense or the fuss. My only disappointment is that gray turtlenecks are unavailable in this August catalog. Perhaps they wIll be offered in the fall selection.
I ordered this for the color -- and so was unpleasantly surprised to see that it is not navy at all, let alone "true" navy. The color is much brighter -- closer to a royal blue. And it is off enough that it does not coordinate with other navy items in my wardrobe.
The cut and feel were good -- I tried to live with it. But I ended up returning it when I realized that I wouldn't wear it because of the color.
Bean should rename this -- call it true blue if you want. I really, really wish it was made in a color that most of us would identify as a real navy.
