Great fabric but too short! If you want to raise your arms above your head...say to write on a chalkboard or get an item from a shelf, your belly will be exposed. Too bad because this is lovely fabric. I doubt LLBean is thinking to fashion the "midriff" top so all the ladies who shop here can expose their belly button bling! A couple more inches and no one needs to be traumatized.
While the quality and color of this turtleneck looked great, the fit was not what I wanted. I am typically a size small and this is what I ordered. The fit at the shoulders and sleeves was correct. However, the torso of the shirt was loose-fitting; honestly, it was baggy. I expected a more fitted, tailored style. I now see that the product description is "relaxed fit." -- I guess I didn't know what this meant and the photo wasn't clear enough for me. A good product, just not what I wanted.
I have bought a number of these over the years, and -- unlike too many other LL Bean products -- the quality does not seem to have gone downhill. Very comfortable and not too tight around the neck. The description says "midweight" but I would call these turtlenecks lightweight, which I like for layering under a sweater or jacket.
Given the rave reviews I had hope for these and ordered 3 in red, black and white. The fabric is is light and soft, very contemporary. The colors are beautiful, esp the red, which is more berry than orangey, hard to find in cheaper materials. Unfortunately the fit is boxy and inexplicable. The sleeves run about an inch short, but I do have long arms. The body is tent-like. If it were A-line that would be great, but it's too short for that, hitting right above the hip. I don't think ordering a size down would help, nor did a run through the wash. They would be ok under a sweater but I want to wear them with suits and slacks. Sadly, all three are going back.
