Material feels thin ... sleeves skinny ... body does not feel relaxed ... I was hoping for a turtleneck like the Bean turtlenecks I bought several years ago. I was happy to see yellow as a color choice.
ProsComfortable, not enuf length & elastic, needs some polyester!!, too loose in neck
I have been a Bean customer for nearly 30 yrs. Always been satisfied, or more than, esp with customer svc, quality, returns, selection for styles. This time, Nope. While we all missed having cotton, this all cotton is comfortable enough ++, but after washing shrinks about 15-20% on length and Arms. Yuck, even on a light dry. My main complaint is it's too short (they stopped offering tall), and more so, the neck does NOT have enough elastic in it. It's out of shape before I've worn it once. Way too loose to pull up high in cold temps, and just plain annoying in moderate weather. Cotton feels great, but if they don't start adding talls and/or some polyester back (I can't believe I'm saying that!), it's not worth even the lowest price.
I love the soft feel of this Pima cotton turtleneck and find the weight to be perfect for layering under sweaters or jackets. I also like the hemmed sleeves because it's easy to fold or push them up for handwashing. As for size, the Misses Medium fits my 5'4" 150lb figure just right.
ProsDurable, Comfortable, so soft next to the skin, great fit
I've been buying turtlenecks for the coming cold months to wear under my Scotch Plaid Shirt and Corduroy Big Shirts. I chose Nautical Red in the Pima, and for Deepest Green, I had to purchase a regular turtleneck. Since they came together, I compared the two and found great variations in both. The Pima, hands down, is the softest and most comfortable, but the wrist ribbing in the Bean's Turtleneck is warmer and keeps its place. I always go for the Pima's first, so at times, I wish that all colors were available in the Pima line. I haven't noticed any shrinkage in Pima's as I wash in cold water, gentle cycle, and dry on low heat. This also preserves the colors nicely. I really like the fit since my top has grown to a 40+. I buy a Large in most tops, but a Medium for a closer fit under blazers. I usually don't announce my size, but I am a review reader, and the more information the better in making choices.
