I have just gotten my new pale pink pima cotton turtleneck out of the L. L. Bean packaging. I tried it on. It fits perfectly and it is so soft. I wear many of these turtlenecks every winter and especially this winter because it has been so cold in Alpharetta, GA.
I just retired and will not be able to afford a lot of clothes in the future but I know that when I buy clothes from L. L. Bean that they will last a long time. I have been buying clothes from L.L. Bean since 1969 when I first married. The quality has always been the same-the best!
I have been buying these for years, and have not been disappointed yet. They seem to have gotten a little shorter in length over the years, but I can't swear to that. I wear them until they literally wear out.
I have a number of Pima T's and regular all cotton T's. The fabric in the Pima ones are especially soft and lighter weight which means they are often used under sweaters, etc. HOWEVER, I have found that the "cuff" or lack thereof is the real weak point. They tend to wear and rip along the seam. I have even attempted to repair this defect but not with great success. The knit cuff on the regular T's lasts much long but neither kind lasts as long as the rest of the shirt unfortunately. That is the frustrating "weak link" in the design - year after year.
