Very Pleased
PostedOctober 19, 2010
This comforter has smaller boxes than other comforters, so the down stays in place better. (Nine inch boxes instead of the usual 12 or 15 inches) I shook the comforter like crazy, to fluff it up after taking it out of the box, and after two days there is no down or feathers escaping. The cover is a bit stiff, but it looks like it will soften up in the wash, which I haven't done yet. The down is light and lofty, and very good for a light weight comforter. Other reviewers reported that the color was yellow, but mine is a lovely creamy ivory. I have just returned a comforter from another famous maker, with the same down fill weight, and the LL Bean comforter is much fuller and loftier. My only suggestion is that with today's plush mattresses, the comforter needs to be a few inches wider. It is plenty long enough, but even with my old flat mattress, it doesn't cover the sides of the bed as well as I would have liked. So anyone with a pillow top or plush mattress would have even less coverage. If LL Bean would update this item to be wider, it would be perfect.

Noisy!
PostedOctober 16, 2010
While well made, as are all LL Bean products, the fabric covering this comforter is made of a fabric that is very loud. How could this be, you ask. Well, I'm a light sleeper and every time I moved at night, there was a rustling, crinkling noise from the fabric. I would not recommend this to light sleepers. I've owned other down comforters before from LL Bean and have never experienced this problem. Mine is going back.

ProsComfortable
I love the color, size, warmth, and comfort. Unfortunately, the particular comforter that I received sheds its feathers everytime I take the cover off for washing. My cats love it.

What the Doc ordered
PostedMarch 24, 2010
I've just 3 weeks ago had a total hip replacement and needed a light, warm bed covering. This comforter is just that: the twin size covers the bed really well. With a couple of other very light blankets, I am toasty in my often cold basement apt. in a Civil War era house with brick walls and old breezy windows. I returned the flannel cover as it made the comforter too heavy and unwieldy for my healing needs. The comforter alone does the job. The color is a light lemon yellow, akin to a brand new manila folder. I find the color and the entire product pleasing.
