Hi, For a year I've been looking for a simple, classic black leather purse. Finally I found the Town and Field Tote with LL Bean. The classic style will look fashionable in the years to come. The great thing is that it has a ton of room in it even though the purse is not large. In it I have put a good sized wallet L 6'' x W 2'' x H 4'', 3"x 6'' game boy, makeup bag L 4'' x W 3'' x H 4", a leather pad notebook 3'' x 4'', a phone and a number of other things and I still have room to spare. The leather is firm yet soft to the touch. The only thing I'd change is the length of the straps. They need to be longer. I'm quite petite so usually the shoulder strap goes over easily but with a winter coat it is a struggle to get it up on my shoulder. I usually end up carrying it by hand which is alright but I prefer to have it on my shoulder. It's really just a minor impediment that I can easily live with.This is one of the best purses I have ever had. I'm so pleased with my Town and Field Tote that I'm buying another one in the Cordovan color. Thank you LL Bean for giving me just what I wanted.
I ordered the full size tote in dark brown and absolutely love it! I'm in law school and it is perfect for carrying my laptop and books to and from class. I used a longchamp tote before, and this is much sturdier and more attractive. I will say the dark brown color in person looks more like the cordovan color in the picture on the website. You won't regret this purchase!
I've been using the mini tote since May and love it's features. The zippered center divider is great for stashing receipts and small items, as well as organizing the bag interior. For a small bag it manages to carry everything I need. I was sufficiently impressed to splurge on the larger tote and am so glad I did.
This is for the Mini bag: Love the bag, but began to hate the center compartment for it is floppy like another reviewer said. Every time I reached in my hand would hit it, so i undone the seams on the side of the pocket and removed it all together then restitched the lining sides back together (easy). Now my bag is perfect! So much more room and I can see what I have in it now. I've never been a fan of "middle compartments" and remove them on all my bags.My iPad goes in with room to spare. The sizing on my bag is 12 in across not the 10 1/4 they say. Height is the same though. The leather is soft and supple but right now the handles are a bit stiff, hope they soften up with use though. They go over my shoulder with room left over so Bean must have listened to reviewers. This is a fabulous bargain for the bag, it is well made,leather is thick. Mine is Dark brown and not as dark and shiny as the pic though, but love the color.
