ProsDurable, Performing as Expected, the perfect size for work
This is my first time reviewing an item. I have 3 Town and Field tote bags. One in brown, one in a cream color and a beautiful winter cord/leather one. I had these bags from a year ago for the cream up to 5 years for the brown. I use this bag every day for my job. I need a bag to keep folders and a date book, something to write with, my phones- one work and one personal, my meds, wallet, and other personal goodies and always a bottle of water. I tried using a smaller bag and I can not keep all that I want in a typical shoulder bag. The one troubling problem I have is HOW to clean them? I give the brown Town and Field a 5 star.
This bag will last a lifetime. Thick, rich saddle quality leather, excellent lining and pocket placement. I can fit my large wallet, iPad and e-reader or paperback and sunglasses case. The straps are just long enough to hold on the shoulder with the bag tucked under the arm when wearing a light jacket.
Ordered the dark brown mini tote. Pulled it out of the plastic, and it is already scratched on both sides. A pebbled leather would have been a better choice for material - who wants a bag all scratched up before first use? The dark brown actually is a true medium brown- I am holding it up to the online photograph and it matches the cordovan colour exactly. It is definitely not the rich dark chocolate brown of the image and that I had ordered to match same colored shoes. I even double checked the packaging to make sure the "dark brown" was what was sent. On the plus side, the tubular handles and thick leather base are good. Would LLBean consider adding little metal knobs on the bottom of the bag to protect the leather there, please? Also, length of strap too short to wear over shoulder. Bag's depth dimension falls a little short - so beware if you're planning on carrying an iPad in it :)

This is worth $99! I use as a purse. Excellent quality leather. Even though this is not patent or pebbled leather, it does not show scratches like I thought it would. Fits over shoulder without a coat on, for me.
