I found myself getting busier and more dis-organised. I had been searching department stores for a tote that would fit all my personal items, my writing stuff (journal, notepads, books, alphasmart neo, pens and papers) as well as snacks and juice and the odds and ends my 4 year old needs me to carry. I usually buy cheap bags, but I've always wanted a good quality one that lasts. I decided to treat myself. It arrived carefully packaged and it IS perfect for my needs. It's obviously a classic, there is nothing that could become dated about this look. The leather is gorgeous and is softening with use, but it still stands upright, I hate bags that flop over. I ordered the black one because that would go with more of my wardrobe, but I'm tempted to get the cordovan for summer use too. The photographs don't show the interior and they should, because the lining is a lovely print. I use the side pockets for my iPhone, slide behind that a small notebook, and stash pens in the next pocket. Nothing spills out because there are leather fastening tabs (velcro, quick to unstick and stick one handed). The other side I use for personal items, diary, medicines and make-up and such. The central pocket I keep for private papers, purse, keys; anything I wouldn't want to be seen. The bag is very well made, so yes, I agree it's not featherlight. But I usually carry it for short distances, from home to the car and out to meet friends type-of- thing, so it's not a problem. I'm 5'7" and the handle length is fine. I can take everything I need for the day; find everything quickly and I feel more organised as a result. My search is over, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a professional, beautiful, functional tote.
You will not regret buying this bag. I purchased last year and love it so much I don't want to use it. I want to frame it and just admire! It's absolutely beautiful, functional, stylish, not to mention cool. It personifies the LLBean experience for me. Lots of inside compartments. Great as a carry-on or overnight bag or as a big handbag. LLBean outdid themselves on this one!
Recently I recieved this bag as a gift. I absolutely LOVE it! It goes great with all my summer clothes, and (as we're head into fall) it matches my autumn wardrobe as well! I like bigger bags, and what I especally appreciate about this bag verses some of my others is how organizational it is. The only downside of it is the strap. It's a little short. Also, this may not be a good idea for those who don't want to carry a heavy bag. Still, a very good buy, and can be used as a purse, briefcase, or both!
Bag looks, feels, and carries like a much more expensive designer bag. I use mine mostly as a replacement combination for purse and briefcase. Very tailored and professional-looking.
