I absolutely love this bag, I drooled over it for a few weeks before finally giving in and purchasing it. I assumed I would like it less after using it for a while like most other bags I have owned. I have used this bag everyday for work for nearly a year and I still love it. I have it in dark brown and it looks very classic and understated in comparison to other bags on the market. This bag holds several large work files, a book, my laptop, and my planner along with miscellaneous other things. I love that the leather is full grain leather (the strongest leather you can get) and the slight scratches/marks I've made while carrying this add character and it continues to look fabulous. Every couple of months I use L.L. Bean's boot conditioner (sold on this site) to protect and condition the leather, making it slightly darker and shiny.
The quality is excellent. However, I would prefer it to be a bit larger in every dimension. 11"H x 13"W x 6"D would be perfect. Also, the handles need to be several inches longer (about 4" longer would be good) in order to be able to put it over your shoulder with one hand.
I received this as a Christmas present when I was in college (a brown leather and tweed one which I guess they don't sell anymore. The design is exactly the same though.) It was my main bookbag as a student and has been my work bag for the past seven years of teaching. It can hold so many things! It comfortably fits my plan book, laptop, water bottle, school supplies... and lots of other essentials. My friends call it my "Mary Poppins bag" because of the random (but necessary!) things I pull out of it. The interior pockets and the center zippered compartment help me keep it all organized. It definitely looks well-loved after almost a decade of daily use, but it's holding up great and I still love it!
It holds my laptop when I'm working and diaper essentials when I'm with the kids. I love this bag and often get compliments. Heartbroken when I got black ink on it that won't come out! I want to replace it but my Cordovan color was discontinued. Please bring it back LL Bean!
