LL Bean is always true to size but these pants leave a lot to be desired. The only plus is the warmth which is why we bought them. The fit and cut are not so good. My four year old has to keep pulling them up because the waist is too big and the ankle is too tapered so much that she can't even fit a rain boot underneath. There is too much fabric in the crotch area which causes bunching in between her legs. I have considered returning them but the warmth wins out I guess!
These were nearly the only pants that my son (1 year) wore last winter. I could tell he was more comfortable in them than any of his other pants. They are warm and cuddly. I ended up having to wash them frequently and they held up amazingly well. They are a loose fit, but that was fine for him.
