I bought these coats for my kids based on the reviews. I have a daughter and a son and they both needed a fall / spring coat. I took these coats on our recent trip to Florida and they were a lifesaver! We had 2 days of rain at Disney and these coats kept my kids completely dry! They did have ponchos over the coats but any part of the coat that was directly exposed never even got wet. The water rolled right off. The hoods were perfect. They offer a bit more coverage around the face and they zip up right under the chin. The velcro on the wrists was ideal to keep any rain out and the backside was a bit longer and kept them covered. I love these coats and will probably buy them until my kids don't fit in them anymore. My husband wants one! Thanks LL Bean!

This is a terrific rain jacket and windbreaker for my kindergartener. She goes to a Waldorf School so they go out rain or shine, and this is perfect. LLBean was recommended by several parents for good rain gear.
My only disappointment is that it's so hard to find jackets like this that are made in the USA. Come on LLBean--let's make all of your products here in the USA!

I've had one of these for about 5 years, and it's held up great ! When looking for rain gear for our 8 yr. old, all we could find were slickers. Finally, checked LL Bean and there it was, just like mine ! Only problem I can think of, was that when I bought my "big boy" rain gear 5 yrs. ago, it was alot more than the 30 dollars this jacket sells for. YOU CAN NOT BEAT THIS PRICE FOR A QUALITY JACKET !
Although I don't usually purchase items by mail, I will always purchase my daughter's jackets through LLBean because I like their jackets better than the ones in the stores. This one is no exception. I like how the hood keeps the wind and rain out. Very well made and cute too!
