"I've had my field watch for a few years now. I was lucky enough to get the older model on sale which is a little smaller and does not have the date feature (for some reason, I think the date on a watch is just a nuisance to keep adjusting and is usually too small to read for the "mature"). The watch has held up for four years now with minimal stratching. It also came with an additional grossgrain band-- I wish LL Bean would bring those nylon bands back. My old one needs to be replaced and I don't wear leather.
My watch case is around 27mm (a little over an inch in diameter). Can anyone tell me the size of the current case and strap (14mm, 16mm)? I am starting to appreciate larger watches and like the old preppy look of grossgrain straps."

"I purchased this watch for my wife...she loves it! It's a miniature version of my men's model...perfect for a lady's smaller wrist. Otherwise it's identical to the larger model. The gold style is dressier and it looks great as a dress watch."

"I love this watch. I have had mine for 20-25 years. It just died for good. The only thing that went wrong were the bands. They just don't hold up for me when I am outside working up a sweat gardening, biking, hiking, etc. I finally bought a metal stretch band that worked just fine. I have RA, too, so this band was much easier to get on and off each day. I will be buying a replacement soon--using my llbean coupons."

"I have worn LL bean field watches for about 10 years. They look great and I have had about three over the years. I work at a garden center and my watch gets wet often and banged around as we move plants from one place to another. It always works great with an occasional new wrist band. I can swim and ride my sunfish without worryng about my watch getting wet. I like the fact I can get additional bands from LL Bean. My disappointment with the new ladies field watch is the face is bigger than my old one. I prefer the size of the smaller face."

"This watch is excellent quality, great size, good looking. The only thing I don't like is that I often can't read the time!!! The hands are small and don't show up well in the dark, so there are times when I just can't tell the time, which isn't the best feature in a watch. I actually wanted to buy the L.L. Bean self-illuminating watch , but it isn't yet made for women, and the men's would look too big and unfeminine for a woman."

"I wore an earlier version of this watch for somewhere between 10 and 15 years, and it quit keeping good time after being dropped one too many times, so I ordered another. The new one is larger (not a good thing) and both the gold and stainless steel finishes look more like painted aluminum than the metal they are supposed to be. The hands are too small and difficult to see on the stainless steel version. Neither the old watch nor the new can actually be read in the dark. If the new watch lasts as well as the old, it's a fairly good value, but I liked the old one a lot better."

"I have had the "gold w/brown strap" Field Watch for just over 14 years now and it has just recently started losing time. Just a few minutes here and there, but I'm afraid it may be dying..... I'm so sad because this watch has made it through so many wonderful years. My "stainless w/black strap" Field Watch I've had for around 5 years and it is wonderful. My only complaint is that my version of this one does not have the date and I wish it did. When my gold one does die, I will be back for another one, as these are the best watches I've ever had. I have even had jewelers (while changing the battery)mention how wonderfully they are made."

"I gave this watch 4 stars because the date could be bigger. Other than that, it is an excellent watch for women, not too big, and not too small. The gold is used for more dressier occasions, and I'm purchasing the black one for everyday use. I tend to beat up watches, with yard work, hiking, and everyday wear and tear. I'm retired military so the military numbers are pretty cool too. This watch has stood up to the test. Good watch for the money. Well worth the buy."

"I have owned the stainless version of this watch for about 6-7 years, and the "gold" version for about two years. I can't tell you what I've put my stainless version through: gardening, washing the car and dog, dropping it, etc. I'm very rough on my watches. I have not had one single problem and only in the last month replaced the leather band. I love this watch! I have others, but always end up using this one. The "gold" version is my dressy one, because I love these field watches so much! Get one (or two!)! Worth every penny!!"

"Unfortunately, I have had to replace the battery 3 times since I've had it. This last time I was told if It doesn't keep time, it's the watch not the battery. It stops and starts but doesn't consistently keep time. I'll have to look into the warranty. I can't recommend this watch based on my experience."

"I love this watch have had it a few years now, the only problem is the shaft that holds the band on, it broke or came out recently, LL bean sent me 5 free replacements but I AM NOW ON THE 5TH ONE. IT SEEMS THAT ONCE THIS PART GOES iT WILL NOT STAY SECURE. i HAVE ALMOST LOST THIS WATCH 4 TIMES IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS."
