I'm a man and have had a small-ish canvas satchel/bag for years to carry stuff around town on a daily basis. I was looking for something slightly larger than what I had, and thought that this bag from LL Bean seemed to fit the bill.
When it arrived, the size of Canvas Shoulder Bag itself looked to be as it was advertised on the website, but the strap was decidedly too short for a man to wear. I'm 6' and with the strap fully extended, the bag hangs somewhere around your rib cage even when it's not worn across your body (like a messenger bag). That combined with the small nature of the bag itself makes it look less like a satchel/man-bag and more like a large purse. I promptly returned the product and am searching for a replacement to my current bag that hangs at/near my waist like a good man-bag should. I would suggest that LL Bean think about using a strap design that allows a larger range of adjustments. In the meantime, I would suggest those over 5'10"-ish avoid this bag unless you like the purse look.
I just received the sunwashed canvas shoulder bag in the olive green and I just LOVE it! Plenty of room without being too big and just enough compartments. I have had my eye on this bag for over a year now and read all of the reviews. It is just a bit larger than what I am use to, but that's fine. Great color, love the leather, and love the canvas. I would recommend this bag to anyone.

I really like this bag. I have switched over from using a big laptop to a net book and iPad. Both devices fit well in the bag with the zipper compartments great for chargers and accessories. As with all my LLB bags I anticipate it will be durable.
