I am in love with this bag! It is spacious enough to hold the gigantic novel I am currently reading and my lunch and all my misc stuff. Well constructed and very cute with my name on the flap. Long enough strap that I can get it around my body or just carry on my shoulder. Only complaint is how long it took to get to me. So popular that it was back ordered for three months!
I couldn't have asked for a better bag. This bag has gotten me through a rough 7 years of grad school - being used daily to haul computers, papers, books, clothes, and gear between home, the lab, and the field. After seven years, its a bit dirty, but really shows very little wear. I would buy another one of these bags in a heart beat, but this one's not worn out enough for me to justify that just yet.
I got this bag in January, 2012, and wanted to give it a good run before reviewing it. I have used it every day since I got it. It's a sturdy, versatile bag. The things I think would make it great: as other reviewers have mentioned, a carrying handle on top in addition to the shoulder strap; something to add stiffness to the bottom so it doesn't just flop over when you put it down (something like the leather on and around the bottom as on the old haversacks); most importantly, a velcro strip on the back (outside) pocket that's at least as long and sturdy as the ones on the end pockets. The tiny strip that's on there now comes apart easily when I put even small items in the pocket, and it is already coming unstitched. That upsets me because, although I have an excellent tailor who can replace it, I don't see how he will be able to hide his stitches on the outside of the bag (just a little thing, but still...).
