This bag feels good over my shoulder. It allows me to carry all the stuff I think I'll need. A small hand carrying strap would be a good addition. There is a nice selection of colors.
I was looking for a canvas messenger bag that could double as a camera bag for my DSLR and maybe an extra lens when my other photo bags weren't suitable. This bag works very well for that and as a day bag. The fabric is very durable heavy canvas. The leather trim and buckle are attractive. Lots of space and plenty of dividers. My only complaint: there are no slots or pockets in the outer compartment for pens, business cards, cell phone and other small items. That omission keeps me from giving it five stars.
I bought this bag to use for school. Reading the other reviews, people commented how big it was, I didn't find that to be the case. I was hoping I could carry my laptop and my class materials in this bag and I can't. It is too small for a 17 inch laptop in a case. If I have my computer in the bag, I can't fit much else. Without the computer, it fits a fair amount. I like the compartments for pens, a water bottle, and other things I need quick access to. My only complaint is the velcro seal on the outside compartment is coming unsewn.
