Very roomy, rugged velcro closures on the end pockets. Two separate zippered sections within the bag. A smaller zippered pocket within the larger section (for I.D. or wallet) and a key clasp within the smaller of the two large compartments. Both large compartments are under the flap which clasps closed easily (no fumbling with buckles) I think a plastic dog collar type clasp may be more functional and durable than the metal. (I'm rough on equipment.) I like the large outside pocket with the velcro closure in addition to the two end pockets. Personally I would like to have the larger of the compartments divided into two sections and possibly a pencil/pen pocket and note pad pocket stitched into the inside to avoid having to dig for writing materials. It is a bit larger than I had expected, but the fabric is thinner than I had expected. The strap length could be adjustable. I would also like to have a handle as well as a strap. I hope it willlast me for years to come.
I needed a replacement for my old campus carryall and this came close to the same bag (minus a few pockets). It's tough, easy to handle, holds a lot of books, and looks good. It doesn't have a short handle-only the shoulder strap, which makes it slightly less convenient, but overall this is a great bag.
I originally bought the "picnic" bag from the signature collection to use as a brief case. That is a very nice sturdy bag but it was hard to find things in it due to the size of the top opening. This messenger bag has plenty of room and is easy to search around in. I also bought the little makeup size bag from the signature collection and use that as an interior pocket for valuables in the messenger bag.
this is my second one. i used the first one everyday riding around on my motorcycle. it has gone through all sorts of weathers. perfect kind of bag to go around on a motorcycle: pack it all for the day or for three days in this roomy bag. i love the front pocket with the zipper, as it allows to keep essentials like a wallet, an ID and a phone separate and easily retrievable, and i love the inside pocket with the zipper, allowing me to keep separate important things hidden away. zippers are strong and durable.
