I got the Cocoa Brown Messenger bag for my college-age son for Christmas recently, so I haven't used it myself. But-- I AM tempted to keep it. It is the usual high-quality LL Bean item. The canvas is thick yet supple, the leather trim looks good, and the strong Velcro side and back pockets work well. The only mistakes I made were to ask my son which color he liked best, and I had it monogrammed with his initials-- so it will be tough to keep. This bag is really a good value for the money too. My son said he preferred its look to the all-leather messenger bags I was initially considering for him.
This is a lovely, roomy bag suitable for men or women. You can easily fit a laptop, books and a change of clothes in this bag. The side pockets are great for cel phone, iPod or a bottle of water. I was amazed at how grippy the velcro is. The strap is long enough to be worn across the chest. I love mine, and I bought one for my son for Christmas, too (shhh--don't tell!). Recommended.
I ordered this bag because I was tired of carrying a purse and a briefcase and a separate bag for misc items. This bag is great. Everything fits, the contents of my purse, my laptop for work and my Bible. It met all my expectations. It is large but I fully intend to use it as my purse. The compartments are very roomy and the construction, very solid. I ordered the cocoa brown to avoid dirt showing. Very pleased!
I bought this for my trips to the office and found it durable and a good size for transporting paperwork or files. The style and khaki color are attractive. I was pleased enough that I bought one for my 20-something son for Christmas. He likes it as well and finds it a useful size for his office needs.
