I used the bag on a recent flight as a carry on. It was the perfect size. The only thing it's missing, they should have put the LLbean name on the outside somewhere.
I bought three of these, one for me, one each for my son and daughter. I am integrating the bag into my life style to organize the stuff that is normally in a pile in my car or on my desk. It is of sufficiently masculine design to be carried as a "man bag" but my daughter likes it also to carry papers for her para-legal job. The bag is a little too floppy when it is empty. Throwing a graph paper tablet shapes it. It has enough little zip and velcro closure pockets to confuse me; maybe they will amuse you.
I absolutely love this bag, it fit my need perfectly. I need to carry medical supplies and it has the pouches and zippered areas to hold my supplies separate from my personal items.
