This bag made a fabulous carry-on, not huge, but easy to carry/manage. It seemed to be able to take in a lot more than I thought it would hold. As with all L.L.Bean items, it's beautifully made. I travel with my Scottie and it carries what I need to have with us when we're on the plane/getting to the hotel. If you are looking for a great but not too large travel bag, this works great.
While I like the overall quality and appearance of this bag, it is way too huge to use as a purse, which is why I bought it. I tried to use a ruler to visualize how large it would be but I guess that technique is not too useful. I used it for about 2 weeks and some of its features are really great--the keychain hook, the outside pockets, etc.--but I could not put it at my feet while driving, could not stash it easily in restaurants, etc. If it were about 33% smaller, it would be ideal!
