This is a great jacket overall. The double zipper problem I overcame. My only disappointment was having my liner stolen and not able to get a replacement liner without buying another jacket. There are a couple of other down jackets that have a simular zipper but not the same lengths.
I live in central Alberta, the prairies where it can be extremely cold. I was looking for a winter parka that is good for wind chills up to or should I say "down to" -40c.
I went looking for coat worn by northern folk up in the arctic. I was talking to a friend of mine who lives in Iqaluit and he suggested I look at LL Bean Warden's Parka. I have shopped LL Bean before and was impressed with the quality and workmen ship of their products.
Anyways, my friend informed me that many people in Iqaluit wear the Warden Parka and it is made for far north weather. It is Gortex, with down liner, windshield around the waist and many pockets for necessities.
The parka was little more than I wanted to pay but figured…. I wanted a warm coat! I received the Parka in a timely manner right in time for a cold front that moved in. This parka is extremely warm and comfortable to wear. I usually wear it with a tee-shirt in -18 weather. If I wore anything heavier, it’s too warm. Ooh yaa….I love it. Durable, wind resistant, nice looking, comfortable, lots of pockets and most of all extremely warm. The only thing that could use improvement is the hood. It is lightweight compared to the rest of the parka however; there is enough room under the hood to sport a toque or hat.
I give this Parka thumbs up for anyone looking for a good warm coat. Very happy, thanks you
It is pricey, but it is the warmest, toughest winter coat I've ever had, and with the weather we've had so far I can say with confidence it seals out the cold and damp.
As others have said, the zipper is indeed flawed, however I've found that if you engage it and pull it up using your left hand instead of your right, it works just fine. If it wasn't for the zipper I would give this coat 10 stars ... I hope LLBean does something with this feedback...
