I just bought this coat and it arrived on one of the coldest days of the year. I put it on and within seconds I was instantly toasty warm. I love the zippered pockets, the way the hood fits well and how light it is. I also love the fact that it got to my doorstep exactly when LLBean said it would--and shipping was free! A great coat, great price, and great experience. My only wish is that it came in more colors, like a royal blue or copper, but that's a minor wish compared to being warm and ready for winter. Bring it on!
For the life of me, I cannot understand why Bean cannot make its clothing just a tad more flattering to a woman's figure. The coat may be warm, but it looks like I'm wearing a barrel. I am regretfully going to return this. I bat 1000 when I buy boots, the occasional sweater, or furniture from LLB, but I cannot understand why Bean keeps offering such dowdy-tailored clothing. I have an old down coat from a competitor that is ever-so-slightly tailored at the waist. It looks fantastic, but is wearing out. Please look at what competitors offer. Would prefer to buy from LLB.
This coat is Paper thin. It is advertised as an ultra warm coat. I live in Michigan and it gets Cold-- below freezing sometimes. It is not warm and the wind blows right through you. I imagine the positive ratings aren't from people who live in a cold area ( I just returned from Atlanta on a road trip and this coat was fine- until I got to northern Kentucky ). I do love llbean products but I hate this coat and feel like its not worth the money.
It keeps me warm during the blistery winters even with the wind blowing. The down does not appear to shed like my other down coat (not from LLBean). I keep my gloves in the exterior pockets. The hood is removable but I keep it on. It fits great. It has been a great purchase. I highly recommend this winter coat.
