I am too cold wearing this coat with a turleneck and sweater underneath when it's 18 degrees F, with a wind-chill of -1. This coat is beautiful, but it doesn't have adequate wind resistance, and the insulation isn't as great as I had hoped for. I also don't care for the fit of the neck and hood. It's awkward to attach quickly. I'll return this coat after this winter since it's too late for me to buy another warm coat this season. This was my first down coat, and I'm disappointed. In general, I've had excellent experience with LL Bean products.

I bought this jacket so that it would keep me warm during the cold weather we get here in Boston, MA. I commute by train to work and it gets very cold during my travels. I've owned the LLBEAN PrimaLoft Packaway Hooded Jacket for a while and I really needed a jacket that covered my entire stomach and thighs (the PrimaLoft Packaway doesn't).
With all of that said, this jacket is GREAT. I always read all of the reviews on at item at LLBEAN before purchasing anything and once again, the reviewers were VERY ACCURATE! I am 5'5 and weigh 135 pounds- athletic built. I normally purchase a MEDIUM for my jackets at LLBEAN and with the recommendations from other reviewers that this particular jacket runs a little bigger and to purchase one size down, I did exactly that, and am so glad I did. I purchased a SMALL and it fits me perfectly. There is even still enough space to wear a heavy sweater or fleece jacket inside.
Giving my height, this jacket ends just right above my knees. It kept me very warm in 20 degrees F weather while standing on the platform outside waiting for my train. I'm very confident that it will continue to keep me warm once the really cold weather hits Boston.
Also worth mentioning, this jacket is the perfect size- meaning it isn't too bubbly and it doesn't take up a tone of space- which is great when you have to ride the train and share space with others.
I also love the hood. Other reviewers mentioned that it is just way too big and covers your eyes. Well, there is a velcro in the back that you just need to adjust and that always solves my problems with my LLBEAN jackets...Besides that, attached to the hood are velcros on each side which acts like a secured scarf and that has definitely kept my entire neck warm when the wind hits!
Finally, all of the zippers work FINE and I think the pockets are deep enough to serve their purpose.
I always wish that I can get a more detailed review when I purchase my jackets, so I hope my review will help someone! I really do highly recommend this jacket!!
This jacket creates a wall of warmth around me as I walk out into the negative temperatures of Wisconsin. I just wish this jacket came as a full-body suit too!
I absolutely love my new coat. It has been snowing and cold here for the longest time. Until I received my new coat I could not stay warm when I went out. It not only keeps you warm when your outside but cool when you are inside a store. It is comfortable, the hood is deep enough it protects your face from the wind. I love the extra ribbed sleeve cuffs that are inside the outer cuff. I have gotten so many compliments every time I wear it. Best purchase of a coat EVER!!
