fabulous coat for late spring early fall, however the comfort rating should say 30 to 50 above zero. I'm tall and the sleeves are long enough. The fit is comfortable. However if your life depends on a warm coat this is not the one for you. Wyoming winters definatly beat this coat.
My old LLBean down coat that I got 6 years ago, had finally reached the point that it needed replacing, but not from being worn-out. This is the same coat, just a different color from the original. It's lightweight, washes well, warm & is very versatile! It easily reaches -20F in central Minnesota & I stay very comfortable wearing this coat. I have also worn this x-country skiing because I don't like cold thighs, hence the 3/4 length. I also like snaps and a zipper closure vs. just a zipper. The ONLY thing I would suggest they add, is a larger inside pocket or two; there's a small cellphone/ipod pocket on the inside, though. One last consideration is that you can really scrunch it up in a suitcase if you're traveling. In another 6 years, I'll probably get another one!
I was looking for a long down coat with a faux fur-trim hood as an alternative to a similar short coat. After trying on MANY similar coats, I tried this one on in the LL Beam store and it was GREAT. None of the other coats I tried prior to this one (and I tried on A LOT) fit right. It is really well proportioned all-around. A lot of other coats I tried were either too tight on the underarm or too tight when buttoned or zipped. This coat not only looks slimming but feels great, its very light-weight and it keeps the cold out. I would definitely recommend this to others- and the price was right too! A great value.
