I purchased this coat for myself after reading all the reviews. I ordered a medium size and I'm returning this coat for a large. I wore a thick sweater and had no room in this coat to zip up. Order up in size for more comfort, not down a size.
I purchased this coat for my daughter for college winters. Per my daughter: I am so glad I had my mom purchase this coat. I already have an LL Bean short winter coat but for the winters on MSU's campus, which I love, but I thought I needed a longer one with a hood on those really cold days. I just returned back to school and I am so glad I have my new coat. It is warm, most importantly, but also comfortable. Loving it.
As a first time buyer I really didn't know what to expect.This is the first time I have ever purchased clothing for myself on line.When my coat arrived I couldn't wait to try it on.Well I love it.The fit was perfect and the weight is so light.It has surpassed my expectations.I would highly recommend this coat.Thanks LLBean
Definitely Ultrawarm, but hood closure is an issue

This coat is definitely very warm and wind/waterproof, which is exactly what I bought it for. It's roomy, which makes it look somewhat like a sleeping bag, but I bought the extra small petite and the arms are not too long, for once. All the pockets zip and the outside ones are insulated and large enough for my hands and phone wallet. On the inside there is another somewhat roomy pocket and another odd one down near the bottom of the zipper that I was told was for a phone, but it's way too small for modern smartphones. I use it for glasses.
The only real problem I have is with the hood. While it definitely stays on even in the strongest wind and is very warm, the velcro part that keeps it closed is very stiff and comes up to my nose. This is really irritating, as there is no other way to keep the hood on.
