I was a bit reluctant to buy this coat at first, knowing I could probably buy something similar and cheaper in one of the department stores. Color however was a big factor since I'd already been out there looking. Choices are limited with brown or black to choose from. Fit was another thing I was concerned about (usually like to try things on) since my size can vary from medium to large depending on layering, style, etc. This coat turned out to be even more than I expected. I opted for the large since I wanted to multi layer for going on daily walks with my dog. It's warm, comfortable, stylish and I love the white color I chose. Well worth the price. I really like the three quarter length. I plan on buying the longer length in another color next year. Anyone debating on purchasing this coat should not hesitate........you won't be disappointed! Well worth the price.
The day this coat arrived, as a possible replacement for the Microsuede 3/4 length down coat I had already received I was immediately surprised by how light weight it was. Just as with the other coat which I was disappointed in due to the lack of a hood I could not imagine it would be warm enough. Slipping it on, my arms were enveloped in a soft cloud of warmth & my hands were welcomed into the nicest feeling flannel lined pockets. Loved the color (Dark Raspberry) & the hood was just what I was missing in the other style. Woke up the next morning to zero degree temp & was SO pleasantly surprised at the warmth of this coat. It is cozy, comfortable, lightweight & the perfect length. Abosolutely love everything about it.

Needed a new warm winter coat & this fits the bill. Do not look like a linebacker in it and the dark raspberry color is great; so tired of black in the wintertime! Already getting compliments. Knowing LLBean's quality I am sure I will be wearing this coat for many winters to come.
I bought the coat, matching bombers hat and mittens with the intention of using them for walking the dog. (You do have to be stylish right?) I have the Baxter down jacket and that is a GREAT jacket for warmth but I wanted something to keep the legs warm without having to put on snowpants. Don't know if I am a real coldbug, but I can't call this coat ultrawarm. Found I still reach for my big poofy long coat instead. This coat is no where near as warm as either one of my other down coats. If this coat keeps me warm on the next outing of snow tubing, where the Baxter is too warm, I'll be happy with the purchase. If not, I'll have to consider returning as I have a closet full of perfectly good winter jackets that don't keep me warm. Don't need another one.
Wind tends to go down the back of the coat and around your neck if you don't have the hood up.
I love the length for running errands and the fact that it is not as poofy as my other down coat. Pockets are a little small for stuffing gloves in and the zippers catch on the fabric easily.
The color (dark raspberry) is much brighter than pictured online. Since I enjoy color that is not a problem and is actually a plus when out and about at night. The fit is as described and true to standard sizes.
Overall, I am disappointed that the coat is not as warm as described or as I had hoped it would be.
