I have bought several Bean coats for myself and husband and love them all. This one is no exception. Warm, fits well, looks great. I got compliments the first time I wore it. Mine is white.

It was time to replace my old black 3/4 length down coat. I'd gotten it at a dept store with no extended return policy, so when the cuffs started tearing and the zipper broke, I decided to see what LL Bean had. I didn't even bother looking at anything that didn't have their "Warmest" rating because I need a coat that will keep me warm in subzero temps. I have Reynaud's Disease, which makes my fingers turn blue and then white when I get cold, and it takes hours for the circulation to return. The only cure is to not get cold in the first place, so I take my winter gear very seriously. LL Bean's year-end sale got me into the store to try this one on. It felt so thin, I didn't really believe that it could possibly be warm enough, but the return policy is great and I knew that if I tried it and was still cold, I could return it.
I've had it for 3 weeks. We've had temps as low as –19F and I've been ok. I do wear double layers underneath (turtleneck & sweater) but I don't feel cold. I don't think it's quite as warm as the jacket I replaced, but so far it's working for me.
They didn't have a color I wanted in the store so I ordered the Dark Raspberry. The color is definitely more of a bright fuchsia, not like it appears on the website. It is a lovely rich color so I'm keeping it but I would've preferred it darker, either more burgundy or more purple. I am enjoying not having a black coat for the first time in years and years. It adds a little brightness to these dreary cold days.
Pros: Not bulky, hood is oversized, zippers and all details very functional. Pockets zip closed. Love the snug fleece cuffs. Length is fantastic, it comes to about mid-thigh on me.
Cons: Sleeves could be a little longer (I am 5'8" and wear the Medium) but the fleece cuffs help make up for the short sleeves. The pockets could be a lot deeper, I wish I could stuff my gloves in them and still be able to zip them closed. I do think this coat could stand to be a little heavier.
I'm glad I took a chance on this coat. Another great LL Bean purchase.

I recently relocated to frigid northern Iowa and purchased the ultrawarm, three-quarter-length coat. The fit is perfect; it is an attractive coat, and most importantly, it keeps me warm--even in subzero weather.
