This is a comfortable, warm coat that has most of the features you would want for walking outdoors in the depths of winter: it's knee-length, has a 2-way zipper and well-placed snaps with cover flap to protect from the wind, knit cuff, lined pockets, and overall blocks wind so the down fill can do its job. I wasn't crazy about the fur trim on the hood until I was walking the dog yesterday and it began to snow sideways--the fur caught the flakes before they could hit my face. The only thing I wish this coat had was a drawstring at the waist and/or hem. I'm 5'7" and normally wear a size 14. I ordered an XL so it would fit over a heavy sweater or suit jacket and am happy with the size. I think the L would have been a bit snug but don't know because I'm not sending this one back to find out. The black coat works both for country and city and basic suburban running around.
The previous model of this coat had capacious useful inside pockets. This model has only one slender, unusable pocket... Also: there appears to be less down filling than the previous model...
This coat was not warn enough for me. I would have to wear too many layers under it, I tried it with a trusty cashmere sweater and froze in weather of high 30's. It is going back.
Gave my wife this coat for Christmas, went to Santa Fe for New Years. It was cold in SF, my wife was not. The hood kept her head warm. Light weight. Enough said!!
