I've been wanting a down three-quarter coat for a few years but thought I was too big to pull it off. Not so. I wear a 14 bottom, sometimes 16 on top. I'll usually buy my tops too big thinking this will hide my size. This time I went by the measurements and bought a Large. It fits perfectly, there's even room for a sweater but I don't swim in it. It's cute. It doesn't make me look big. My husband likes it on me also. He said I look warm, not big. I tried on a large down coat in a different style at Beans and it was tight in the chest and bellowed out around the hips. Not attractive. There's a lot going on around the face and neck but Bean's had that in mind when they gave you the choice of taking the fur off or the whole hood off. I think I'll appreciate all that stuff around my face on those cold blustery days. I might give the fur a haircut if it keeps tickling me.
ProsGreat Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected, it fits me!
I'm short. I like being warm. I like sleeves that block the wind and a high collar. I want a coat that is not heavy, bulky and does not drag on the ground. I'm 4'10" and a 3/4 length is perfect for me. The detachable fur is great, I'm ready for winter. My choice of the black color along with the clasic style and the detachable hood allows my coat to double as a dress coat when needed in the cold weather. I'm a happy LL Bean shopper!
I have nicknamed my coat the Blue Tube. It is warm, and that is exactly what I wanted, but I look like a blue tube with legs and a head. The coat is not cut with a feminine shape. With that said, I will take warmth over fashion on a cold windy day.
ProsDurable, Great Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I absolutely adore this coat. I had a black one for four years, which is in perfect condition. My husband puchased the same coat in Rasberry this year. It is warm, light weight and perfect for New England winters! Once again, LL Bean, you make a fabulous, long lasting product that can be worn for years to come.
