I gave this coat 4 stars because I have not yet had the opportunity to wear it as it has not been cold enough. I thought the color was truly a raspberry red color and accurately described. I was concerned the coat would be too poofy being down insulated, but it is not-- I don't feel like an overstuffed marshmallow at all as I have in other down lined coats. With the fur ruff, the hood hung down too low, but I always intended to remove the fur which I did and it is now perfect for me. I bought the 3/4 length and it comes to just above my knee, and I am 5'3". I bought this coat to be my "extra warm" coat for my walking commute to work in windy cold conditions and am looking forward to it keeping me comfortable on those early morning and evening walks.

LL Bean quality through and through. Nice fit really warm and the fur zips off -- a great feature!. This is really a wonderful weight, and it is non-bulky. A keeper!
I just received this coat and it seems well made,is very light and looks attractive. I have only worn it in cool weather (50s) and hope that in spite of being very thin it will keep me warm in cold climates. My main objection is the "faux fur" around the hood. To be frank, it is quite awful, and I took it off immediately. I am pretty sure LLBean could do better! Please consider revisiting that part of the coat. I bought the chocolate and like the color. The inside pockets (phone and zipped pocket) were a nice surprise. I am waiting for really cold weather to see how warm the coat is but based on other reviewers who live up north, I should be just fine.
This is a great alternative to a down coat. I'm returning due to the cut. I am 5'3", 113 lbs, long torso, no curves. If it came in a size 2 regular I would give it another try. There's an excess of material especially in the torso area. Otherwise, the shoulders, sleeves, and overall length were fine.
