ProsGreat Value, Comfortable, Performing as Expected
I was torn between whether I wanted a down jacket or this longer down coat. I originally ordered the jacket and immediately called LL Bean to stop that order, and ordered this 3/4 length coat. I fully expected to regret that decision and have to return it. But when it arrived, it fit perfectly (I bought the large because I wear bulky sweaters a lot. I am 5'4" and relatively thin), and I loved the color (blue). It is lightweight, but keeps me totally warm. I removed the fur collar immediatedly, because I just don't love fur--even fake fur--but plan to put it back on in terrible weather days in Feb. and March. I LOVE this coat and would recommend it to anyone who wants a longer, lightweight, but warm coat for winter.
The only thing I don't like about the coat is its color: sort of a bright robin's egg blue. But it IS warm and it IS long. At first the hood bothered me because I couldn't see around it, but then I realized there was a velcro adjustment band in the back of the hood which corrected the problem. I love the length which keeps my back and legs warm!
My primary use of the coat is for walking the dogs and it has been outstandingly functional and warm, even on windy days. There is a 2 way front zipper so I can get my hands in my jeans pockets if necessary by zipping up not down. And snaps if I am in a hurry and not fully zipped when I run out the door.
I have also used it occasionally on very cold days to run errands and it is very comfortable in the car and lightweight on the body in the stores. I have gotten over being embarrased by its odd color (at least I stand out in a crowd) because it is so darn comfortable! I just have to be mindful not to slam the long coat in the car door.

I am a Senior Monitor at our local Middle School. I purchased this coat to wear since I do bus dismissal every day. WOW! Now instead of shivering...I am warm. This coat is light weight, comfortable, affordable and definitely a must in your wardrobe if you live in upstate New York.

This is a wonderfully WARM coat and miraculously light! The pockets are lined with soft fleece and keep my hands toasty (as I haven't found the perfect pair of gloves yet lol). It amazes me every time I shove my hands in my pockets how warm and toasty it is in there.
There was a comment made that the pockets were too high/inconvenient but I didn't find that true being a 5'6" 200+lb frame - this coat fit me like a glove ;)
Only down-side is the hood placement is a little awkward for me but that may be because I have a full ponytail to contend with on a daily basis - BUT the fur and hood are individually REMOVABLE! Ingenuity at its best! So if you don't like the fur but want the hood - zip it off!! BEST aspect ever outside of the warmth of this coat.
It's also pretty stain resistant. I purchased the soft-blue color and I commute in and out of the city daily yet it has stood up to subway rails, chairs, leaning on platform walls, snow dirt from hubbys car (long story) and more. Definitely worth it and I want to get hubz the Men's version as well! Thanks LL Bean!
