Thankfully, our fall has been really mild so I haven't had to wear this coat. But what I liked best when I received it was the comfortable fit & how I could remove some or all of the hood.
The quality was excellent, rich color, removable hood and fur. Unfortunately it did not fit me. The coat is full cut and I needed it more fitted. I was sad to return it because I really like the coat
Perfect warmth, sizing. Thin material on exterior.

I love this coat. It's the perfect length, the perfect warmth. Feels good on a day when it's 40 degrees and I think it'll feel good on a day when it's 15 degrees! It's fluffy and the feathers feel like they are the perfect weight (though maybe not for -15 weather).
My only complaint is that the exterior material is thin and therefore easy to rip. Mine either came with a rip or it was easily ripped on the morning of day one wearing it by rubbing against something. LL Bean was so kind and rush-shipped me another. While I waited, I wore my jacket from a previous year and noticed that the exterior material was thicker. I wonder if LL bean went too thin. This will not impact warmth or experience wearing jacket, but it may impact how long it lasts if you have a rough-and-tumble life. I would not wear it even for light skiing for example!
I ordered this coat from LL Bean as I normally truly love their products. But, this coat for the price was very disappointing. I am a small person but it did not fit very good, the fur on the hood was not very nice and stopped about chin level leaving the rest of the neck area exposed. Yes there was a flap of material there but the fur always makes it much warmer. I did return it as was just disappointed with the overall quality and fit.
