LL Bean is seems to be the only company whose clothes run true to size. I've been looking for a down coat this length but could never find one to fit. I normally wear a size 12 in clothes but even a size XL would not fit -- until I tried LL Bean. This is a size Large and fits as described. I can even wear one of my blazers under it! Why I wasted my time going from store-to-store to find I coat, I'll never know.
I am 5'6" tall and 150 lbs. the medium is perfect, even allows room for a sweater. It is not tight around the middle either. I love the light weight of the coat. I was very undecided on what color to purchase...I purchased the slate color...wish now I ordered the black, as I think there are more color options for scarfs, hats, etc. I love the length, as it is longer than a regular jacket, yet not too long to be a problem getting in and out of the car. I waited a long time to buy this...and I'm glad I did.
This is a wonderful, warm, yet lightweight coat. It fits nice, too. I got the petite mediuam. I weigh about 130 and am 5' tall, so it's hard to find a coat that fits. The sleeves are just slightly too long, but they have inner cuffs that I love.
The only thing is the pockets. They should be deeper, and the pockets inside the coat are not what you'd expect. The handiest one to access is very narrow, like a pocket for pens? The other one is up at the shoulder and slanted so it's not handy at all to put papers in or something you just want to quickly store.
Bean, make the pockets deeper and this coat would be perfect.
I am 5'6, 135lbs, 34C. I ordered a Misses Small. Perfect fit. Ok, at first I was skeptical about my new coat because I'm from FL and I expected a winter coat to be big and bulky. My coat shipped to me in Upstate NY in 3 days! I took it out of the bag and fell in love, I got the cream color, it is light weight, you need to fluff the "fur" trim a bit, but I LOVE it!!! I'm not used to the box shape but I've been told that is what everyone looks like in winter :) I didn't think it would keep me warm but WOW was I wrong! I walked outside and I couldn't even feel the cold where my coat was covering!! AMAZING! Ps it was 30 degrees outside. I know not that cold but I know it will keep me warm! The pockets had a fleece lining inside so your hands stay super warm and it has pockets on the inside to hold your phone and your money/ID/stuff. I love this coat! Will definitely buy from LL Bean again!
