I adore this jacket. I had it shipped to the UK as I loved the color. As native New England girl living in Scotland I know the L.L. Bean name, love the color (dark raspberry) & we are in the grips of the coldest winter in 20 years. Have to say even at -13 it's the warmest and most cozy jacket ever. It's very light weight, the hood is stunning and It looks fab on. Please can we have it in more colors? How about a dark cranberry, dark green or metallic red? Will definitely be buying it again next year in another color.
I got this coat about three weeks ago - just in time for serious cold weather - and it is amazing! It is light as a feather and very sleek-fitting - I was sure it would never keep me warm on my daily walks along the windy beach. Well, it does, and I still can't believe it! The hood is incredibly cozy.
Price made me rather guilty - and when received it seemed much too light weight to be warm - Surprise! That's what downy insulation is all about (keeps those birds alive). Even here in Atlanta GA with this freeze I need this coat - wear it indoors and to bed, and outside with 3 woolies underneath, and I'm wonderfully warm. The funny ostentatious fur on hood hung over my eyes like a shaggy dog's although it does keep forehead warm. It's possible to unzip it. Instead I gave it a hair cut! Now I like it. Sleeves are too short. Neck-chin close, a pair of flaps with velcro, is stiff and itchy. Other than that it's great!
I ordered the full length coat and loved the warmth so much, I also ordered the three quarter length. Both coats are so warm. I need only to wear something light underneath. I am in Canada and it gets very cold here.
