This is the casual winter coat I've been looking for and I'm extremely happy with my purchase. It is lightweight, fits perfect, and does well to keep me warm on cold winter walks even with temps at 10 degrees. I have plenty of room to add layers underneath if I need extra warmth. I love the 3/4 length as it adds warmth to my legs and looks stylish as well. The fur on the hood is a bit cheesy but comes off easily so it's not a problem. I bought the dark raspberry coat. It doesn't scream out "raspberry" but is quite lovely and complimentary.
This coat is lighter weight than I thought it would be, and not as warm as my full length one, which is over 800 down fill and this one is 650. I think that information should have been clearly noted in the catalogue, as I had to call an operator to find out why it was so light, ie, was it defective or not. I'm keeping it as I find it's ok with a fleece layer underneath and a good design.
My husband purchased this parka for me for Christmas 2005. I had been looking for a little longer length jacket with a 2-way zip. I wanted a stylish but practical & warm coat. I'm 5'3" & it's about knee length for me which is exactly what I was looking for. A great classic style with a fit that is very comfortable & easy to layer. And 4 years later, it is STILL my favorite winter coat.
The true test was the winter of 2007-2008....one of the worst in recent memory here in Wisconsin. It snowed A LOT...almost every day. This parka was perfect for that type of weather. The wind does NOT go through it. The hood stays snuggly around my face and really keeps the wind & snow away.
I wear it for shoveling & snow-blowing too. It keeps me warm in sub-zero temps. It also keeps me dry even in wet heavy snow storms. Extremely durable & well made. It has survived it all here in the Frozen Tundra.
I got it in paperwhite which is a very light tannish/cream color. You know if they had it in classic red, I'd order another one...!
The fur trim easily zips off & the jacket washes & dries like a dream.

When I ordered the coat the weather was cold, since its arrival the temps have been milder. Other than the fact it was shipped in a plastic bag, I am pleased with the order. Time will tell if it keeps me warm. Also wished I would have noticed that it doesn't have an internal drawstring to cinch up the back and keep the wind from coming up my back.
