I work outside alot during the cold winter months. This coat is very lightweight, comfortable and WARM. I love it!! It also washes very well. I have recommended this item to the other women that I work with and some have already ordered their own. Also the men that I work with have requested the website so that they can look to see what items are available to them. I am a very satisified customer and have ordered other items from LL Bean recently.
I love this coat. This is my second three quarter ultra warm coat purchase from LL Bean. I ususally wear a small, but I ordered this coat in an XS for a slimmer fit. Sure it's a puffy parka - but the quilting and cut of this coat keeps you from looking like the Michelin Man. Pure genius! I have to say a few words about LLBean's commitment to customer satisfaction. It's truly the best - ever. Keeps me coming back again and again.
The coat is very warm with layers. The arms are not as warm as the body, but then again, the core is what really really matters when it comes to sub freezing temps. Now, you really are getting what you pay for with this coat. It is not a $4,000 fur coat nor will it keep you as warm as one. So I'm serious when I say multiple layers will be needed. That is what I had to do for this coat to withstand Russian winters. The pockets, to me, were a little high and in the front too much. Based on their positioning, I will probably never put my hands in them. The fur trim, is very fake feeling/looking, but it is removable. The zipper if funny, there is a bit of a trick to it, you have to hear the "click" to know it will zip up correctly. Now the sizing was weird. I am 5'4", 115lbs, typically a regular small in most things. After reading many reviews about this coat running big, I ordered the petite XS. Arm length fits (perfectly, if I were half an inch longer they would be too small). The coat passes my knee. The coats midsection is very wide and goes straight down. That part looks very large on me. Overall, for the price paid, it is worth it and I will be using it this winter.
The coat seemed really high quality. I would have kept it except it had no shape at all. I think LL Bean needs to change the styling of their products, they would sell so much more.
