I walked downtown this afternoon--a 40-minute walk at -35 celsius (-31 fahrenheit) wearing my 3/4 Ultrawarm coat. It was too cold to bother starting the car. I had a heavy fleece under my coat and a scarf and hat, but I was comfortable. I have washed my coat several times without any problem except the first wash I didn't remove the faux fur hood trim and it shrank in the dryer. (I didn't read the care tag.) I'm a size 10 and the medium fits with enough room for a heavy sweater underneath.
Growning up in Texas a temperature of 40 degrees was too cold for me. A job opportunity came up for me and i needed to move to New York this winter where I knew I would need an exceptional coat to keep this warm blooded person from freezing to death. I chose this coat for the comfortability level of -40degrees and I am in no way disappointed. It's light yet I dont feel the cold at all. Believe me, if you are a wimp in the cold, this is the coat for you.
I live in a very cold area of the country and wanted a warm coat that I could wear dressed up or down. Wow, did I ever strike it rich! I bought this coat in black coffee and it is so warm, but also very light and easy to wear anywhere. It's like wearing a whisper. The size was perfect, the sleeves and length just right. Highly recommended!
I own two other down coats from other makers, one short and one long. The long one is great but can make me feel like I'm in a sleeping bag. The short one was purchased at a retail store and the arms were too short. I decided I would like to have a 3/4 length coat and yours was a great price. I am 5'9 1/2" tall and arm length is a real concern to me but I was pleasantly surprised that the coat fit perfectly. The elastic sleeve inserts are great and keep the cold air out. I ordered the brown and the color was exactly as it was on the site. The free shipping was another perk that helped in my decision. I love it. This was the first item that I ordered from L.L. Bean but I'm sure I will be a return customer.
