This is going to be a really warm coat for winter. I originally bought the coat in purple slate, but decided it was too much of a "dusty lilac" color. So I exchanged it for the brown. I am 5'2" and 148 lbs. I bought size petite medium. It fits fine and allows for a sweater to be worn underneath without feeling too snug.
I ordered a petite small by mistake but that turned out to be the perfect size. I'm 5'4" and 120 lbs and the petite goes right to my knees. It is very light weight and I think it will be roomy enough to allow layering underneath. Last year I waited to late to find a winter jacket from anywhere. We had a brutal winter in the northeast and I'm not taking any chances this year!!
First off, this looks like a great, functional, warm coat. Yet, I ordered the extra small and it was humongous on me. I am 5'5 and 110 lbs and very slender for reference. I really wanted to like this coat but I couldn't get over how large it was. You could literally fit two of me inside this. The reviews said to order a size down and I am already an extra small, leaving no room to move down a size, so I gave it a shot and tried it in the hopes it would fit. It truly is a nice looking jacket and probably would have kept me warm but it was simply too big. Which is my only complaint about the jacket and it's my own personal fit preference. Maybe if the waist tapered in a bit it would have fit better.
I wanted to buy this coat in early January of last year, but they were sold out already. So I ordered early this year, and it arrived today. Sadly, I will need to return it! It looks and feels beautiful--so lightweight, warm and comfortable. BUT it runs big, as many others have said! I am usually a medium and sometimes need a large (an 8 or a 10 in LLBean generally), but, to quote another reviewer, "I look like a giant rectangle". The coat puffs out at the midpoint. I am considering trying the small, but it isn't available at the store to try on and I am afraid to have another shipped out and have to return that, too. Will sleep on it.
