Pros- Relaxed fit. Thank you LLBEAN. I'm not an hour glass and was so relieved when I found this coat to fit with some room so I can wear a sweater and it doesn't feel like a sausage casing. I'm 5' 9" 171 lbs. (forgive me) I purchased one for my short mother in petitie XL and thank goodness it fit her. At 83 she gets cold and even tho she's short and a little plump she too can be warm.
Fake fur on hood can come off! (and go into trash) Thank you!

Negs- Pockets (pockets!) are really shallow.Such a disappointing inattention to function. I'll never understand why women's coats (and clothes for that matter) aren't made as durable and rugged as mens. Women work really hard! Ask any of us. Can't design be both high quality and pretty? Give us the same quality. A mans coat would never have such stupid pockets.
The hood is an after thought. My annoyance is probably minor for most but for big for me. The wide velcro hood closure when not in use flies off to the sides like wings. Out to my shoulders. Looks really weird. When the hood part is fastened with velcro it's rough against your face. Wind can also blow up underneath it. It's a bummer. Not the end of world just a drag.
After trying 6 coats from other company's I went with this one bc I was tired and it was getting costly. it was good enough and it fit my body. I don't carry huge purses but I brought a new one to accomodate my iphone and gloves bc I can't rely on pockets.
I've had my coat for not even a week and I don't think it lives up to its name. I walk my dog at about 5:30 a.m. every morning. I really wanted a coat that would keep me warm! This morning it was 7 degrees and I had on 3 layers underneath and I was still cold! I love the way it fits and the way it looks but it is just not warm. After paying almost $200, I expected more.
This coat IS warm, so it certainly serves it's purpose, but there are some details that would improve it greatly. 1) The pockets are not deep enough. My iphone 6 falls out all the time if the pocket isnt zipped. Gloves dont fit well. Theres no reason they couldnt be deeper. There does seem to be a strangely narrow phone pocket inside the coat, but who wants to have to unzip every time they need their phone? 2) The fit is shapeless and runs very large. Im normally a medium, and ordered a small in this jacket- per other reviewers advice- and I had to return it for an XS- which is still quite roomy. I think an XXS would be perfect. So order down at least 2 sizes if you dont want to look like youre wearing a sleeping bag. 3) This jacket isnt conducive to wearing a winter scarf. It zips up tightly around your neck. All this said, however, I do think Its a good coat for the money- it's very light- which I love, I personally like that it isnt shiny, and you can't beat the LL Bean warranty. Just not the most stylish.
