I got this for my daughter to wear at school, where she has a lot of walking to do to and from classes/dorm. It is a great length because it's not short, but not too long either - will keep her very very warm. The fit was true to size and the coat is extremely comfortable. The hood is also nice - it does up nicely and won't keep falling off while keeping her warm. We got the purple color and she LOVES it; it's a really pretty color. i highly recommend it.
The only reason I didn't give this coat 5 stars is because it is a smidge to short in the arms for me. I am 5'10" and typically wear a size 14. I bought this coat when I moved from south central Texas to Boston. I bought a Large after trying on the coat in the store. It fits perfectly in the body, even with extra layers. It kept me warm and fairly dry all winter and it was my go-to coat for months. It is machine washable after removing the "fur" from the hood and it is extremely durable. I have two dogs that like to jump on me as soon as I walk through the door, luckily their claws never ripped the fabric of the coat. I just wish it was made in a "tall" version, but that's the story of my life when shopping for clothes.
This coat is lightweight,warm and comfy.The hood,pockets and zipper are great. The problem is the extra room in the midsection,almost like maternity wear.The bottom is very wide,like a bell shape or an A'lione style.
This coat is great--light and very warm and has many useful pockets. But it has one major flaw--the hood. It's small and doesn't stay on your head unless you velcro it close, but because the velcro tabs are very short, it practically chokes you if you have it closed (and forget about having a scarf or even thick sweater inside--there's no room!) So most of the time I just don't use the hood or have to literally hold it so it stays on my head (not pleasant on cold windy day). LLBean, please make the velcro tabs longer (or at least one side longer and with multiple velcro positions/options) or add another hood closing devise such as tie or snap button!
Also, please consider adding a little shape to the coat. Even the XS has too much room around the the waist! Not flattering and not great for insulation.
