Love, Love, Love this coat. It is so warm and comfortable, best coat I ever owned! Fits true to size with enough room to add a layer. I bought it just in time for one of the worst winters in my area in a very long time, and it has kept me warm and toasty. I just wish they made them for men, my husband could use one too....
I am 5'8" (160 lbs) and ordered a regular size small. It is a little lose (I could maybe wear an XS) but not baggy. This is not a fashion coat so it shouldn't be too tight. There is room to wear a nice sweater or fleece underneath which is important. I love the color of the faux fur on the hood. I have been looking for a puffy down coat with a fur hood and this was definitely one of the more affordable options and I think it will last for a long time. Nice that you can take off the fur or take off the hood entirely. The pockets are nice and warm and the fleece sleeve linings are comfortable. The coat is a little short in the sleeves, but not where it makes much of a difference. Just wish I maybe had another inch of fabric at the wrists. I highly recommend!
This coat is very warm. However, it does nothing to block wind. With a different outer layer this coat could go from good to awesome.
The pockets are also in a very strange place. They're high up and directly in the front. So if you have anything in your pockets (like gloves) prepare to look pregnant.
I bought this, knowing that we would be in a climate that got to -40 degrees (and sometimes less) a lot during the month of January. To tell you the truth, I have avoided going out in that weather a lot, being a stay at home mom. This morning, my husband couldn't take the kids to the bus stop so I did. It is - 17 out there and "feels like" - 33 with the wind chill. I had a long sleeved shirt on under my coat and still felt the cold through the coat on my upper body. The lower body was a given since the coat is open at the bottom so some extra thermals and snow pants would probably be necessary. My behind and stomach are big enough that it closed off any air escaping from below, where the coat is open. I had it zipped up all the way, the hat was on my head with the fur fastened together and my hands and the ends of my sleeves were in my pockets #again, to make sure no cold air would enter# but I felt cold. The cold was from my neck all the way down #but like I said, I didn't expect it on my upper body#. I must say that my hands were really toasty in those pockets though. The zipper is really annoying sometimes. It is one of those that has a sort-of double zipper where you can leave on zipper at the bottom and then zip all the way up or bring both up, which will only zip certain portions. I do understand the want for this feature, since the coat is, supposed to be, warm, so sometimes you may only want a portion zipped to let in the breeze. I understand but, the frustration when I try to zip it up all the way is not worth the feature. I don't know what degree truly would feel comfortable but definitely not -33. I wish I would have known and I would have searched for a different coat. I guess I will just have to put more layers underneath. This may be a 5-star item for another climate range but not - 40.
