Far from ultrawarm! I love the coat, the color, the shape, the length, how light... However, it is not as warm as advertised! I am COLD in it. I wear it in PLUS 40 degree with little wind and it blows right through this coat. I cannot imagine to wear it in MINUS 40.... I believe this warm coat needs some weight to be really warm. this is nowhere near. even my 15 year old LLBean parka is warmer that this one... Pretty disappointed with such an expensive coat.
Not sure how this coat was rated for warmth but, it is way off. Even with two layers underneath, my arms are still cold. Very disappointing, as, I returned a coat because of the zipper and it was warmer than this one. I am a long time customer of LLBean. Even have some garments when they were made in the USA. Never had these problems.
I tried on every coat at the mall, and wasn't satisfied with the fit, warmth or quality. I decided to try this coat and ordered it the day after thanksgiving and it was on back order. I knew my friends at LL Bean would have it to me before the January 4 th date. It came December 20th. I am 5'3 so I ordered the small petite. It fits perfectly, and the sleeves are not short like some petites. The coat is roomy without being very boxy. You do need to layer, as with any coat. It is warm and cozy, I love it!!
