Purchased this coat online and when I received it, it fit ok except that it was too bulky. When I looked at my side view in a full length mirror I looked way too boxy. And it felt boxy as well. Not a good feel if you're traveling by crowded subway or bus. I returned it in person at the store when I realized LL Bean charges $6 for returns by mail. I tried to order their other coat, the hooded down coat but it was sold out online.
I have a three quarter black and absolutely love it for its warmth. I purchased one in the dark raspberry for my mom as a Christmas gift. Unfortunately,I returned it as the colour is not dark, but more like bright pink. Disappointed with the colour and the difference between how it looked online versus in person.
I was trying to replace another coat that I damaged (another brand that has gone out of business.) In comparison, this coat was very generic in its finishing. The other coat had soft fabric inside of the collar and better pocket placement. Tonight was the first time I wore the new coat and I was cold in it at 32 degrees, especially in the arms (I had a down vest on so I don't know how the body would have been.) I'm keeping it because it's a good plain coat that can be gussied up with hats and scarves but it's not going to be a favorite or worn on really cold days.
It's warm, it's light, it's affordable...LOVE the coat. I shopped around quite a bit this winter for my winter coat, looking for high quality winter coat that will keep me warm in below freezing weather. The alternative choices I had was around $300. With this jacket I can take be out for hours comfortably in the teen temp.
If I were to make an improvement, I'd make the pockets little bigger...especially one of the inner pocket. I'd like to put my cellphone in there but it's not quite big enough...but this is such a minor thing.
