I am 5'1 and about 116 lb, and the XS-petite was too big, has no shape and was just so unflattering, so I'm sending it back. I'm not thrilled that return shipping isn't free, but I would still order again from LLBean. I didn't wear it outside so can't comment on the warmth.
I've looked at a multitude of options for a 3/4 length down filled coat, and settled on this one knowing the quality would not be in question. I wear a size 12 and ordered a large because I wanted room should I wear bulky sweaters underneath. While it's a tad large on me, it's extremely comfortable - no pulling when I raise or move my arms. The coat is extremely well made - no shortcuts with the fabric, lining (including pockets, zipper). The outer pockets have zippers, and are deep enough to be considered real pockets. The cuffs in the sleeves are very comfortable. The coat is also very warm - a must have in these terribly cold temperatures. The day it arrived it was 4 degrees outside! As the saying goes, you get what you pay for....and this coat is the best option out there. p.s. I do wish LL Bean had an option for ordering a real fur strip for the hood. I would take advantage of it.
I probably would have loved this coat. it had every feature ( long, fur lined hood, inside pockets, fleece lined all throughout the inside even up to the sleeve cuffs, puffy but not too big) that i wanted but i ordered a size small and it was huge on me. when i went to order an extra small, there were none available. :( so i had to return it and find something else. still haven't found anything close to this coat in an extra small.
I've bought my warmest coat from LLBean for at least the last 10 years (two coats) so I came back to LLBean when my latest coat started wearing out. I've always taken size small at LLBean but when I got this coat, there was a good 1/2 in empty space between me and the inside of the coat with three layers of clothes on. Then I went outside in 40F and froze - and it wasn't even windy. This coat is very thin and light and while it might be OK for someone who wants a light coat, I wanted a winter coat. I already have a light jacket that is warmer than this coat.
Also, when I flipped the hood up, with the fur, it came down to the bottom of my nose. The hood was so large that I couldn't see unless I took the fur strip off. I returned the coat and will be looking somewhere other than LLBean for a warm coat.
