This is the perfect winter coat. It is warm yet not too heavy. There is enough room to wear layers underneath yet it is not bulky. It will be great in storms and cold New England weather.
I was looking for a winter coat with a nylon lining. Polyester linings create too much static. There are very few coats available with nylon linings. I was afraid it would feel bulky because it's so puffy, but it does not. It is lightweight but warm. However, I have not yet had the opportunity to wear it in really cold windy weather. The acrylic fur trim is pretty, but I'm glad it's removable. Best of all, the fit is true to the size chart.
I had to send my lovely white jacket back. I live in MN and wanted a 3/4 length jacket for doing errands,.not for walking the dog on super cold days - i'm already covered for that. I bought the same size as my fabulous winter coat purchased years ago but the fit was was very different and I especially I noticed it in the arms. But I always recommend the product and wear lots of it, but not this particular one for me.
The hood is terrible. You cannot wear a scarf with this kind of hood. It has a velcro fastener under the neck that makes it impossible. It seems like the LL Bean designers were trying to make it so you didn't have to wear a scarf at all, but that was a bad idea. Even with the hood fully up and closed at the neck, your mouth, chin, and nose are still fully exposed. So, all the extra coverage with the hood does nothing really-- it only makes it impossible to wear a scarf. The hood with the Acadia coat is much better.
