I bought this coat on sale for my daughter last year and she just loves it, warm, fit perfectly and LLBean gorgeous. I have a couple friends who own the long version and they love theirs' as well. I splurged and bought one for myself this year because I wanted something longer and warmer while taking winter walks. I'm short so ordered the petite large wondering if it would allow enough room for something other than medium weight and found it a comfortable fit. Even with heavy weight sweater underneath will be roomy and not at all bulkly. I must say that it's so warm with medium weight clothing back and forth to work and running around town that I may not even need a heavier sweater. I wondered whether the square quilting would make me look blocky as some reviews noted. Not at all, it has a very flattering a-line type fit and not blocky or bulky looking at all. I ordered the plum/purple wondering if it would be too purple but the color shade is just gorgeous, more plum than purple! Love the fact that the faux fur is easily removable for washing or if not wanted. Purchased this on sale and with some coupons, what a bargain. I hope it will machine wash beautifully as stated it will.
Love this coat! Bought this in anticipation of a cold winter. It is extremely warm and comfortable without being bulky as some down coats are. It has every feature that I was looking for including zippered pockets, double zipper in the front placket, hidden inside pocket, and detachable hood. The length is perfect as it is long enough to cover almost to my knees, yet just right for getting in and out of the car. This is the perfect winter coat.
I really want a coat that covers to the knee for cold Maine winters. This seemed like it would be the perfect coat but I am going to return it. It is boxy but could be attractive if it were more fitted. The pockets are on the small side - barely enough room to stuff gloves in them. The faux fur is ugly so I removed it but then the hood doesn't have good coverage. It would also be nice if the inside of the neck was lined with a warm, soft fleece like other LL Bean coats I have. The coat seems warm without being heavy and comes in some nice colors (love the purple, a raspberry color would be nice too). With some improved features and a more fitted, stylish look it could be another great coat from LL Bean.
Just bought this for the winter, but the weather turned cold early for a few days. Put this on to walk my dog and it was a dream. Coat kept me nice and toasty warm, there were no drafts, and the hood worked well too. I got an XL and it's a little big but I don't mind because I have room for a sweater. Pockets are shallow, but deep enough for my phone, doggie pick up bag and my mace. All in all I love my coat and can't believe I waited this long to buy one of these!
