Storm Chaser 3in1,
November 14, 2009
By
jrc116from Louisville, KY
"Okay guys, this jacket is cool. The inner fleece layer is good for keeping you warm, IF the wind is not blowing. The outer layer blocks wind, BUT it isn't very warm. Of course, put them together and it's definitely an awesome combination, as someone who works night shift in the outdoor elements it's definitely a high recommendation from me."

Nice Jacket - But,
November 12, 2009
By
Bonzaifrom Upper Marlboro, Md.
"This jacket is a real winner. But evidently not for me. I am a normal 6' male with a slim build. I weigh about 175 lbs. I really like the jacket except for the slimness of it. The body portion feels sort of tight. The sleeves are tight on me also. Maybe I should have gotten a size larger. As a matter of fact I'm thinking of returning it for an x-lg. It would be perfect if it were a might fuller."

Great Jackets,
November 11, 2009
By
emcon4from Fort Lauderdale, FL
"My husband and I live in South Forida and really have no need for winter clothes. However, we are visiting family this winter and needed an all purpose jacket. I found just the right thing in the Storm Chaser. We love the fit and the various ways the jacket can be worn. All in all, a great jacket!"

so far so good,
October 27, 2009
By
DaveAfrom ny, ny
"The only thing I don't like so far is that the inside pockets of the liner have a large HOLE in them. Not like a worn out old hole, but a deliberately unstitched area at the bottom back of the pocket. I've lost a number of small things out of those holes. I'm going to have to sew it up."

Another LL Bean hit!,
October 14, 2009
By
CymruCutiefrom Boston
"I got two, one for each of my teenage boys, and the versatility of these jackets is just what we need! The fleece liner is great for cool October days in New England, and the outer shell is great for days when it is rainy/misty and cool. When they put them together, they'll be warm and dry for a Boston winter. Plus, I know LL Bean stands behind all their merchandise, so if I ever have a problem, their customer service people will be on it like white on rice!!"

"The jacket does keep you warm, but it is difficult to get into and out of because the lining is so clinging. I would also recommend you get a coat one size bigger than you normally wear because of this."

Pockets,
October 6, 2009
By
jokingfrom Portland, ME
"I like this jacket because of the 3 ways it can be worn and because it has a lot of pockets! The only complaint I have is that the cell phone pocket is inside the shell and hard to use with the fleece liner over it! It would have been better to have had an additional cell phone pocket on the shell as well!"

"I wa disapointed in the jacket length. While it fit width wise and felt comfortable, the jacket length was much too short, which seems to be an issue with other jackets I have purchased from LL Bean. I returned the jacket."

Sleeves too short/chest too tight... can't win!,
September 30, 2009
By
Chicagonative1from Louisville, KY
"I am a 5'8'' woman 200+ pounds. I ordered the womens 3 in 1 in an XL. It fit wonderfully in the torso, shoulders and length. However when I extended my arms forward, 3 inches of my wrists were exposed.
I returned it and ordered a Mens Medium, hoping for extra arm length and same torso dimensions. Arms were perfect, the chest was too small and I am NOT a 44 in chest (as the sizing went on the site.)
I Love LL Bean, but I have now learned there are some things that just need to tried on before purchase. Coats for me are just one of them.
Otherwise, both coats looked to be fine products and I was sad to have to send them back."

"I received this just in time for a trip to Lake Placid and boy! did it come in handy. An early season frost and cold rain would have really put a damper on our golf trip were it not for this versatile coat. I wore the shell only for the rainy day, wore the inner fleece in teh morning during the really cold hours and that night I wore both to go walking about the village with friends to a couple of night-time spots. While it could have used another pocket or two, its' function and fit is excellent."

Good value,
September 11, 2009
By
DoubleLBunnyfrom San Antonio, TX
"I bought this jacket for my husband in January and it still looks new after 3-4 washes (no fabric softner). It still beads water and the fleece hasn't pilled at all.
The jacket runs true to size, but is a bit short so I ordered both the regular and tall, but kept tall (my husband is 6'1" and the tall hits the bottom of his belt-loops). Make sure you check the back length before ordering.
The sleeves do bunch up or catch on the fleece, but that is to be expected for unlined sleeves. The loops and snaps on the sleeve help keep them in place when using the fleece and sheel toether. The fleece is warm and not too bulky and looks nice on it's own and has zipped pockets, but no real internal pocket, although the zipped pockets form 2 usable pocket on the inside.
The shell has zip pockets on the outside and a velcro cell phone pocket in the inside. A zipper pocket or mp3 player pocket would have been nice.
The hood is thin and uninsulated and not that impressive. It does not zip out and when rolled into the collar creates a life perserver around your neck making it hard to zip the jacket up all the way. The hood can be tightened with and locke in place, but seems a litte shallow for large headed men.
This jacket is pretty warm, not as warm as down, but it gets the job done in Texas where it's not that cold and the versatility gives extended wear time.
Overall good value for a 3 in 1 system, which normally ranges in the $100 or more category. 4.5 rating"
