Have had this jacket for three winters and it is versatile, easy to wear all year round - except in the coldest weather here (below 20). I especially like the fleece liner. Everything works EXCEPT: The main zipper - it is a disaster - has been since I bought it. Now the teeth are beginning to break, it never has worked very well. A jacket like this needs a heavier one.
Great jacket! I have only used it as the combined jacket not the fleece, or top coat. It has been a cold winter and all I have to do is put on this jacket over a t-shirt and I'm fine. It makes it easy to get ready to go outside and shovel the snow: put on a shirt and your jacket. No more layering up!
This is a nice medium weight 3-1 jacket that keeps out the autumn and early winter cold. One weakness is the main zipper. The zipper is not very robust and frequently will separate. Bean should seriously consider a more beefy main zipper. But overall a good value.
This isn't the first time that the fit wasn't correct with LL Bean's coats. The recent purchase was the Storm Chaser 3 in 1. The body fit perfect as well as the sleeve lenght. But the sleeves were tight enough that I couldn't wear a sweather. Then the neck would not zip up nor the snap because the neck was too small. I'm an average 42-44 chest with a 16 inch neck. Can't explain why the body and sleeve length fits perfet but the neck and sleeve diam. are smaller. OK maybe it is me but I don't have that issue with our outfitters :)
